The Arts

There is no question that during this unprecedented time, the arts have taken a huge hit. The number of people who have been impacted by the closure of the theatres is staggering. It’s heartening to know that whilst the theatres may be dark, people are continuing to be creative. A great number of theatres in London and throughout the UK have continued to keep our appetite for theatre at least somewhat sated by sharing broadcasts of productions that had previously been captured on film. Other adventurous and forward-thinking organisations have been putting up a wide range of new creative material. I applaud and support them all.

Meanwhile pros and amateurs alike are still honing their skills and bringing joy to both themselves and others by making music, constructing musical instruments, holding dance classes online and helping to create some of the marvellous streamed content we’ve been enjoying. One extremely ambitious performer (perhaps a bit desperate to practice) built a floating floor dance studio in the garage for his fiancé and himself. Amazing!
