Lock-down or some form of sheltering in place has been going on for quite awhile in most parts of the world. Here in London, we officially entered lockdown on 23 March, although in reality we were already sheltering in place about a week before Boris Johnson made the announcement. The government believes that the worst is over (for now?) and has begun easing some of the restrictions. For many of us, this hasn’t included hairdressers, nail salons or other personal grooming services reopening. Consequently, the braver or more desperate souls amongst us have resorted to cutting our own hair or perhaps trusting our spouse to do it. Is that the ultimate in trust, or what? Some of us are seeing our natural hair colour for the first time in years and are also having to deal with caring for our own nails. And of course for men, there’s the additional grooming of their beards. To grow or not to grow has been a question in many a household. In my opinion, none of this is tragic. It’s just part of what has been happening during pandemic and has lead to some interesting stories and different (and unexpected) hair styles. Take a look at how some have dealt with this challenge . . .
Personal Grooming Pandemic Style
Pat (Seattle WA) and Alison (Alexandria VA) resorted to cutting their own hair.
Russ and Luke (Seattle WA) proudly stated: ‘We cut each other’s hair and we liked it!’
In Talketna AK, maybe they are just letting their hair grow. But, they have set up public hand-washing stations to help keep everyone safe.
Elise (London UK) bravely allowed her husband Martin to cut her hair. She wasn’t too pleased with the results. I think it’s safe to say that Martin shouldn’t give up his day job!
Mark (Seattle WA) perhaps a bit grudgingly admits that ‘aside from one of my sideburns, I guess mom did a good job!’
A few lucky souls were lucky enough to discover that hair salons were reopening in their neck of the woods. Dave (Boulder CO) had to not only brave the strange new world of hairdressers in COVID times, but had to find a new hairdresser since his had moved away. Lucky for him he found a safe and talented hairdresser to cut his hair.
Ginny (Houston, TX) didn’t mind the fact that the salons were closed during lockdown. She’s been growing her hair for several years so that she could donate her beautiful long locks for a wig donation. What a wonderful and generous things to do!
Stephen (New York City) is keeping up his handsome looks while staying home and safe!
