After the past several weeks, life in London has changed dramatically. I’m sure I’m not alone in trying to come to terms with what many of us are calling our New Normal. With extremely quiet streets, limited public transport, closed tube stations, empty restaurants, bars and shops and queues to get into shops, very little seems to be status quo.

Meanwhile, outside our windows, spring is arriving in London. Although we aren’t to leave our homes, we are allowed to go out once a day for exercise. I eagerly seize that opportunity to walk the beautiful streets of London. I can’t help having very mixed emotions each time. I am so sad to see some of my favourite places shuttered. The realisation that the streets are peaceful because we are all meant to be at home is disquieting. At the same time, the budding trees, flowering plants and nesting birds are a joy. With so much uncertainty, I believe that we must embrace the positive and find silver linings wherever we can.

Life in London during the Covid-19 pandemic

My silver-lining for today is that I get to see the amazing miracle of budding trees in spring and walk in some of the most beautiful parks in the world. And, I get to do that every day.

  1. Great picture and what a super idea!! Today at Jackpot Toastmaster, Andi told us to send you
picture for your new project. Will see what I can find. You want pictures of us personally or
pictures of the area here in Las Vegas? Sounds like fun.

    1. Hi Karen – Pictures of you / others doing whatever they are doing to keep themselves occupied during these strange times. Also any photos of the area (while you’re on a walk or out for groceries?) that capture something unusual that is specific to this time.
